Holiday Bikeability Level 1&2

This course is for children who are confident and competent riders with a recommended minimum age of 9 

The rider is taking part in a combined level 1 & 2 course. These courses may be set up as one day or two day course, please make sure if there are two dates listed on your booking that you attend both days.

The course starts in an off-road environment, the rider must be able to ride in a straight line, whilst looking behind and riding with one hand whilst keeping control of the bike. If they are struggling with this element of the course, they will not be able to proceed to the on-road sessions, and you will be contacted to collect them early.

This course will give the rider a basic level of cycling competence on which they will need to build and practice with an adult, it should not be regarded as a guarantee of their safety.

They will need:

  • Suitable helmet (not full face)

Child Bike Workshop & Learn

This course is recommended for children aged 9 and above 

Bikeability Fix is a practical maintenance session designed to increase participation in Bikeability and support ongoing cycling by improving rider confidence and cycle safety.

The session focuses on helping riders:

  • Check a cycle is safe and roadworthy
  • Identify and fix minor faults
  • Repair a puncture using basic tools

Duration: up to 2 hours, max 6 riders per instructor

Session Overview

  • Cycle safety checks: tyres, brakes, chain (if present), handlebars, saddle fit
  • Basic adjustments: within the rider’s competence
  • Puncture repair: safe location, wheel removal, patching, refitting and inflation

This course is for riders who are already comfortable riding on the road and is recommended for age 9 to 18

The riders ideally should be regular cyclists and preferably have taken part in a level 2 course prior to commencing this course.  They will learn more advanced skills, including how to:

Use the best riding position for any situation

Ride on more complex roads, this might include complicated junctions or faster roads with speed limits over 30mph.

Use traffic lights, multi-lane roads, or cycle lanes.

The course will only give the rider a basic level of cycling competence on which they will need to build and practice with an adult, it should not be regarded as a guarantee of their safety.

Holiday Bikeability Level 1&2

This course is for children who are confident and competent riders with a recommended minimum age of 9 

The rider is taking part in a combined level 1 & 2 course. These courses may be set up as one day or two day course, please make sure if there are two dates listed on your booking that you attend both days.

The course starts in an off-road environment, the rider must be able to ride in a straight line, whilst looking behind and riding with one hand whilst keeping control of the bike. If they are struggling with this element of the course, they will not be able to proceed to the on-road sessions, and you will be contacted to collect them early.

This course will give the rider a basic level of cycling competence on which they will need to build and practice with an adult, it should not be regarded as a guarantee of their safety.

They will need:

  • A roadworthy cycle (without stabilisers) with 2 working brakes

This course is recommended for children aged 9 and above 

Bikeability Fix is a practical maintenance session designed to increase participation in Bikeability and support ongoing cycling by improving rider confidence and cycle safety.

The session focuses on helping riders:

  • Check a cycle is safe and roadworthy
  • Identify and fix minor faults
  • Repair a puncture using basic tools

Duration: up to 2 hours, max 6 riders per instructor

Session Overview

  • Cycle safety checks: tyres, brakes, chain (if present), handlebars, saddle fit
  • Basic adjustments: within the rider’s competence
  • Puncture repair: safe location, wheel removal, patching, refitting and inflation

This course is for riders who are already comfortable riding on the road and is recommended for age 9 to 18

The riders ideally should be regular cyclists and preferably have taken part in a level 2 course prior to commencing this course.  They will learn more advanced skills, including how to:

Use the best riding position for any situation

Ride on more complex roads, this might include complicated junctions or faster roads with speed limits over 30mph.

Use traffic lights, multi-lane roads, or cycle lanes.

The course will only give the rider a basic level of cycling competence on which they will need to build and practice with an adult, it should not be regarded as a guarantee of their safety. 

They will need.

  • A road-worthy bike with 2 brakes.
  • Suitable helmet (not full face)
  • Suitable clothing for the weather

The course starts in an off-road environment, the rider must be able to ride in a straight line, whilst looking behind and riding with one hand whilst keeping control of the bike. If they are struggling with this element of the course, they will not be able to proceed to the on-road sessions, and you will be contacted to collect them early.
